Plant nutrient halts arthritis
In March of 1996, at the age of 53, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It hit me so hard that I was literally playing squash one week and flat on my back the next. It was what they call "severe onset" RA. I could barely walk, and when I saw an RA specialist in May, he told me that if I didn’t go on his course of drugs, I would be in a wheel chair by Christmas! No mention of exercise or diet. I knew there had to be a better way.

Prior to my diagnosis, even though I‘d led a healthy life (or so I thought) I had always been a highly allergic person. I had chronic asthma, sinus problems and various allergies. Consequently I had undergone approximately ten years of steroid therapy. My immune system was shot!

My husband and I worked in the health field, and over the next two years I tried every treatment and remedy that we knew of, with marginal success. I still couldn’t work more than a few hours a day, and had constantly swollen joints. A trip to a naturopath was helpful; I had the Eliza-rast blood test done, which showed what my food allergies were, and I set about changing my diet to eliminate or minimize those foods.

In the fall of 1998, over 2 years since my diagnosis, I was still struggling with my RA – I couldn’t work a full day, nor could I participate in any exercise without causing pain and swelling. My husband and I were running a health food store, and he suggested that I add sterols and sterolins found in Moducare (a new product for the immune system that had just been introduced into Canada) to my already healthy intake of supplements. With some skepticism, I agreed.

After a month I hadn’t noticed much difference, but with the encouragement of my husband and friends, I persisted. Gradually, as each month went by, I began to feel better. In the summer of 1999 I was thrilled when blood tests done by my doctor came back RA negative!

I can now work a full day and am starting to add exercise and workouts at the gym to my life – something I would never have thought possible two years ago. I believe that next to sterols and sterolins, maintaining my diet is the most important thing. I know I must stay away from foods that trigger my allergies. Because of the severe onset of my arthritis, I have permanent damage to my joints and I still have flare ups if I cheat on my diet, but with continued use of sterols and sterolins I may eventually be able to eliminate my food allergies too.

Thanks to sterols and sterolins, I believe that my immune system is finally balancing out. Now I have control over this autoimmune disease – instead of it having control over me. And that is the best feeling in the world

Editor's note: Results may vary from person to person. Research using Moducare has been conducted in those with rheumatoid arthritis, HIV, tuberculosis, general immune function, allergies and stress-induced immune suppression.
